Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood where physical and emotional change occur. Humans as social creatures cannot live alone and always interact with their social environment, interaction between individuals and other individuals is needed to care for each other. Social interest has behavioral characteristics such as cooperation, friendliness, empathy, caring, and courage in terms of helping, contributing, and tolerance. The aim of this research was to determine the influence of extroverted personality on social interest in adolescents, with gender as a moderator variable in adolescents. This study used quantitative research with disproportionate stratified random sampling techniques. The subjects in this research were 155 subjects who were male and female. The instruments used in this research were the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) and the Sulliman Scale of Social Interest (SIS). Data analysis in this study used Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results showed that there was no influence of extroverted personality on social interest with a significant value (p=0.467 > 0.05) and gender did not moderate the influence of extroverted personality on social interest with a significant value (p=0.707 > 0.05).
