Abstract

Fathers who are not actively involved in parenting will increase the risk of their daughters engaging in premarital sexual behavior. Moreover, when their daughters have entered college. Students who no longer live in the same house as their parents will be at greater risk of engaging in premarital sexual behavior because they receive less supervision from their parents. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between father involvement and parenting on premarital sexual behavior in female students. The research approach used in this study was quantitative non-experimental with a correlational design. In determining the research sample, the researcher used an accidental sampling technique with a total of 270 female students. The characteristics of the subjects in this study were (1) female students in D1, D3, D4, S1 study programs from private and public universities in East Java; (2) unmarried; (3) aged 18-24 years. The analysis technique to test the research hypothesis was the Spearman correlation test. Based on the results of the correlation test, a significant negative relationship was found between father involvement and premarital sexual behavior in students (r = -0.243; p = 0.00). The more positive the child's perception of the father's involvement in their life, the lower their intimacy in engaging in premarital sexual behavior, and vice versa.
