Abstract

Adolescents experience social development, thinking patterns and emotions, which are influenced by the interaction between genetic, environmental and social factors. Social interest, the need to live in harmony with others, develops with age, and individuals with high social interest show good understanding and empathy towards others. One of the factors that influence social interest is personality. Individuals with extroverted personalities tend to have greater social interest and more easily form interpersonal relationships compared to more introverted individuals. This study aims to examine the influence of extroverted personality on social interest in adolescents, considering emotional maturity as a moderating variable. The subjects in this study consisted of 155 11th grade high school students who were taken using disproportionate stratified random sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study were personality scales, social interest, and emotional maturity. Data analysis in this study used the Process developed by Hayes with the help of SPSS software. The results of this study found that in hypothesis 1, the probability value was 0.016 (p <0.05), which means that there is a significant influence of extroverted personality on social interest in adolescents. In hypothesis 2, the probability value is 0.01 (p<0.05) which means that there is a significant influence of extroverted personality on social interest in adolescents.
