Abstract

Social adjustment has an important role because the process takes place throughout life, individuals need to make adjustments to adapt with the environment and people around. Social adjustment is closely related to social interest, a problems related to social adjustment require social cooperation and concern for others to find solutions to these problems. This is necessary because of the limitations of humans as individuals in that not all existing problems can be overcome alone. This study aims to see whether there is an influence of social interest on social adjustment in adolescents and to see whether there are differences in gender. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 111 subjects. The measuring instrument used to measure social interest is the SSSI (Social Interest Scale of Sulliman) and the measuring instrument for social adjustment is the SACQ (Student Adaptation College Questionnaire) subscale adaptation. The results of this research show that there is an influence of social interest on social adjustment, the value of p=0.009 (p<0.05), the R value is 0.061 or 6,1% with the coefficient value having a positive effect. Apart from that, the results in this study show that there are differences in social interest in social adjustment in adolescents in terms of gender.
