Abstract

This study examines the use of Off-grid Solar Power Systems (PLTS) to enhance the utilization of renewable energy in shallot farming. The system is designed to provide two types of voltages, AC and DC, to meet household electricity needs and provide illumination during the night. The Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method with Perturb & Observe (P&O) algorithm is employed to maximize the power output from the Photovoltaic (PV) panels. The research results indicate that shallot farmers require a power supply of 14.4 Kwh, while the research target is 500 watts for 1 hour using a 12v 40ah battery. However, the actual battery usage is smaller than expected, at only 12v 12ah. Despite this, the system can still power a 12-watt lamp for 12 hours covering an area of 10 square meters. Nevertheless, this study provides insights into the potential of utilizing Off- grid Solar Power Systems to support the energy needs in shallot farming and emphasizes the importance of proper power management for optimal system performance.
