Abstract

Background : WHO stated that joint pain is one of the causes of functional failure that can decrease the patient life’s quality. The aim of this study is to find out the relationship between the mechanism of coping and the patient life’s quality with joint pain at Wava Husada Kepanjen neuropoly.
Method : The design of the study used a descriptive correlation design with a cross sectional approach with 75 patients who were suffering from joint pain in Wava Husada Kepanjen neuropoly. The data was collected using the Jalowiec Coping Scale (JCS) and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires. Furthermore the collected data were analyzed using the non-parametric statistical test, the Spearman Rank correlation test.
Results : The results of this study showed that the majority of joint pain patients had an adaptive coupling mechanism of 53 (70.7%). Meanwhile, the quality of life of majority joint pains patients had a good quality of living of 49 (65.3%).
Conclusion : A patient with an adaptive joint pain mechanism tends to have a good quality of life, because a person with an adaptative joint mechanism would show a good life quality, such as being able to adapt to changes in his physical, psychological, environmental and social health that could improve the quality of his life.
