Abstract

The high contribution of East Kalimantan GRDP to the Kalimantan economy is not followed by income equalization in the districts/cities of East Kalimantan. Judging from the Gini index, East Kalimantan has inequality that tends to increase when compared to other provinces in Kalimantan. This study aims to determine how much influence the economic structure has on inequality in East Kalimantan. The data used is secondary data in the form of 7 districts and 3 cities in East Kalimantan province with a time period of 2017 to 2021. This research is descriptive quantitative derived from BPS East Kalimantan. The analysis method uses panel data with a fixed effect model (FEM).
The results of study concluded that during the 5 year period from 2017 to 2021, the economic structure in East Kalimantan did not change, it was still dominated by the primary sector, followed by the secondary sector and the tertiary sector. And based on the contribution to GRDP, the secondary sector and tertiary sector are increasing while the primary sector is decreasing. Together (simultaneously) the primary sector, secondary sector and tertiary sector variables affect inequality in East Kalimantan Province. Primary sector variables and tertiary sector variables have a positive and significant effect on inequality,. secondary sector variables have a negative and significant effect on inequality in East Kalimantan Province
