Abstract
Women are sometimes still faced with a position where men are considered appropriate to lead or occupy a position in terms of power because of the patriarchal values in society about the figure of women in Indonesia. In this case, the emergence of the term Alpha Female shows a change in human thinking toward the old values that exist in women. An Alpha female is not affected by existing social constructions to achieve her dreams and is strong and brave so alpha females become women with extraordinary self-concepts. The quality of self-concept, whether positive or negative, owned by Alpha Female has a close relationship or attachment to the interpersonal communication she does through her interactions and relationships with other individuals.
This study was conducted to determine the self-concept of alpha females seen from aspects, forming factors that affect self-concept and interpersonal communication that occurs with the self-concept of alpha females. This research is qualitative research with descriptive research type, using primary data sources and secondary data. The subjects in this study were selected through a purposive sampling method with certain criteria. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data condensation, data presentation and conclusion drawing from the data that has been obtained.
This study shows that the self-concept of the subject tends to be positive based on the views the subject has on the physical, psychological, social and moral aspects that influence him and are also strengthened by the factors that shape the self-concept. This is characterized by the subject being able to accept praise without being embarrassed, accepting criticism given by others, being able to express his feelings with others, being able to respect himself, having a feeling of equality with others, being able to face and overcome problems that occur in his life, and being able to conduct a thorough self-evaluation. So that the positive self-concept that exists in the subject can carry out interpersonal communication well, be open, can adjust well when being a communicator or communicant, carry out active communication clearly and directly, and be transparent.
