Abstract
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) was infectious disease caused by the dengue virus that still become public health problem in Indonesia. The clinical bleeding manifestation was the symptom that commonly happened in patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever. The degrees of thrombocytopenia was a factor that influenced the degrees of clinical bleeding manifestation. Objective: To know the correlation between the degrees of thrombocytopenia and the degrees of clinical bleeding manifestation in patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever in Siti Khodijah Hospital Sepanjang, Sidoarjo (Period January 1st – June 30th, 2009). Research method: Descriptive analysis with cross sectional approach. Result of study: The result of research showed that from 317 of sample 53.6% has mild thrombocytopenia and 85.8% has moderate bleeding. The Gamma correlation test results showed p=0.264. The Somers’d correlation test also showed p=0.264. Conclusion: There was no significant correlation between the degrees of thrombocytopenia and the degrees of clinical bleeding manifestation in patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever.
