Abstract
This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using visual aids-based learning media, especially the Introductory Box, in improving understanding of ordinary fraction material in class II at SDN nggulwulung 2 Malang. The media development method uses the ADDIE model, which involves analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The research results show that the Introductory Box media has succeeded in increasing students' understanding, as evidenced by the evaluation results which reached an average of 82.14. The media development process involves material validation and media validation before it is implemented in learning. This media was tested in three stages of implementation in class II at SDN nggulwulung 2 Malang, and the results of the questionnaire showed that the media could motivate and attract students' attention, and was suitable for use in learning. Thus, the use of teaching aids-based learning media, such as the Introduction Box, can be an effective solution in improving understanding of mathematics material at the basic education level.
