Abstract
This study aims to determine the financial performance of the local government of Malang City 2004-2008 budget year. This study took place within the city of Malang. While the data used in this research is financial data, Malang budget year 2004-2008 budget. The data collection technique is done with the documentation in the local government of Malang City. The method used is descriptive comparative use of certain financial ratios is the ratio of local financial autonomy, the ratio of effectiveness, efficiency ratio, ratio of contribution and ratio of growth. The results showed that: (1). Based on financial self-sufficiency ratio of the area still lies between 0% - 25% are classified as having an instructive relationship which means that the ability of local government of Malang City in meeting the funding requirements for duties of government, development, and social services community is still relatively low. (2). The financial performance of local government of Malang City has been running effectively and efficiently. Result effectiveness ratio has reached 100%, this means the financial performance of local governments have been effective in Malang and the results of the efficiency ratio of less than 100%, this means the performance of local government finance has been efficient, Malang. (3). The ratio of overall growth is not good enough because the growth is not there a significant increase from year to year.
