Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder that is characterized by the low bones mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility predisposing a person to an increase risk of fracture. One from three women and one from five men in Indonesia are suffer by osteoporosis. And two of five people in Indonesia have the risk of osteoporosis. Generally it is happen in women, especially postmenopause by the decrement of estrogen hormone drastically. Unfortunately, until today, treatment for osteoporosis has not got much attention. Objective: Purpose of this study is to know the correlation between postmenopause toward the incidence of osteoporosis in Haji General Hospital Surabaya Method and sample: It is an analytic observational study by cross sectional approach. This study is conducted in January 2010. Population of this study is 43 persons by sample of 31 that is analyzed by using correlation test of Chi Square. The datas are collected from the result of interview and medical record. Result and discussion: From the result of correlation test of Chi Square, it shows that there is no positive correlation (p = 0,657) between postmenopause and osteoporosis. It is caused by the decrement of bones density of each person is different or in variation. It is also influenced by factors like race, healthier life style, body mass index and routine activities or exercises.Conclusion: In this study, it can be concluded that there is no correlation between postmenopause toward osteoporosis.
