Abstract

On the growth, individual attempt to hold socialization well and effective with the social environment. Human being as social creature wants to be accepted and recognized it existence by the others. By recognized the existence means as human wouldn’t only want to be accepted, but behind it want the existence was appreciated and had meaning for the others, remembering basic needed every individual are has opinion that him self as personal has high value. Individual always be on the choice to fulfill it needed about product or any kind of service to determine the best choice of product would bought. Decision to buy high class cellular phone represents rational decision that aware several alternatives available and able to see goodness and badness a product. Self esteem represents one of personal factor able to influence some one to conduct decision to buy. This research is correlation research had purposed to know the relationship between self esteem and decision to buy high class cellular phone on the student. Sample of this research were student had cellular phone Nokia type N series. The research sample had 50 people. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling technique. The instrument used to take scale data self esteem had 42 item and also scale of decision to buy were 24 items. Data analysis technique use correlation test of moment product Karl Pearson. The result was obtained from this research indicated that there was significant positive relation between self esteem and decision to buy high class cellular phone on the student (r = 0,450 : p = 0,000). This is means that high self esteem would be able to conduct decision to buy precisely, on the contrary. Self esteem give effective support toward decision to buy high class cellular phone 20,3%, whereas 79,7% had been affected by another factor.
