The human experience of life can be increased through reading literature. Literature can enrich knowledge through imagination of the writer. One example of writer’s imagination product is fiction. Based on the statement above the writer wants to analyze one of Agatha Christie’s novel. She is one of successful woman novelist in presenting a detective story. In this thesis the writer wants to analyze some kinds of conflicts faces by the main character and how the main character overcomes the mystery case in the Murder on the links. In this research, the writer uses a qualitative approach because the data can not be treated with statistical procedures like those in quantitative research. After analyzing the novel, the writer knows that the main character faced a social conflict, because the main character, Hercule Poirot and his parther, Hasting had problem related with their profession as detective. He had to find the murderer of Mr. Renauld, the owner of Villa Genevieve. He collected the clues from his wife, the servant, the gardener, his son, and his neighbor. Firstly, Mr. Renauld’s planned his own death, because he did not agree with Jack Renauld’s planning to marry Marthe Daubreuil, the neighbor and the daughter of Mrs. Daubreuil. Mr. Renauld ever had relation with Mrs. Daubreuil in the past life. Secondary, Marthe Daubreuil had listened when Mr. Renauld arranged the planning with his wife, so she decided to kill Mr. Renauld at that night. She wanted to be a rich woman by marrying with Jack Renauld. The detective helped the police to find the motive and information. Hercule Poirot used his method to examine and analyze the information when he made analogy, predected anything which never thought by the others. He hid on the bushes and waited the murderer’s reaction really came to Mrs. Renauld’s room and tried to kill her. From the story analyzed, the writer can give some suggestion. Firstly the teacher can use this novel as the medium in teaching process to refresh the studying atmosphere. Secondly, the student can use the novel to enrich the vocabularies and to get new experience through the adventure of the detective and build the writing and reading ability. Finally, for the general readers, the writer hopes that they can take the positive messages from the story.
