Abstract

One of many problems of education is the weakness of the learning process. Learning that there are still encouraging students to memorize the knowledge that students have received without connecting it with the daily experience of students. Therefore, the learning process by becoming less meaningful. In Contextual Mathematics Learning to help students create linkages between the material studied by the daily experience of students. In addition, an atmosphere of learning also supports the reception of information by students. Thus the teacher should be able to pursue the establishment of a conducive learning atmosphere for students. Cooperative GI (Group Investigation) Approach can help teachers to create a conducive learning atmosphere so that students can receive the lesson well. The purpose of this study was to describe students' reasoning ability, activities of students and teachers, also student’s results exhaustiveness against learning the subject of algebraic arithmetic operations by implementing Contextual Mathematics Learning in Cooperative GI (Group Investigation) Approach. The study was descriptive qualitative research, with research subjects are 40 students of class VII-A. The research was conducted on 29 September to 6 October 2010 in SMP Wahid Hasyim Malang. To collect the data, this researse use observation techniques and test learning outcomes. Technical analysis in this research using descriptive analysis techniques. This analysis technique used to analyze data from student's reasoning abilities, student's and teacher's activities, and, student’s results exhaustiveness by implementing Contextual Mathematics Learning in Cooperative GI (Group Investigation) Approach through percentage. After doing the analysis, now can be concluded as follows. Students' reasoning abilities in Application of Contextual Mathematics Learning in Cooperative GI (Group Investigation) Approach achieved very well. Application of Contextual Mathematics Learning in Cooperative GI (Group Investigation) Approach performing well, as indicators of learning activities at each meeting held by students and teachers. Application of Contextual Mathematics Learning in Cooperative GI (Group Investigation) Approach was good enough, because of student’s results exhaustiveness in classical learning attain to 82.5%.
