English structure is necessary to master because structure is one part of language components which are essential to understand the sentences. However, students often make mistake in structure because they do not comprehend well about the grammatical rule of English. The writer of this study is interested to know the students’ ability in using adverb clause to show time relationship. The research design used in this study was descriptive research design. The instrumentation of this study is test. The writer took two classes of eight classes by using cluster sampling technique as the subjects of this research. The data of the study were collected by giving a test on June 10th, 2008 for 45 minutes. The test consisted of 20 items that were divided into two parts of test, namely: (1) objective test, and (2) completing unfinished sentences. The students’ answer sheets were collected and scored. Students’ mistakes then were computed. The result of this study shows that the ability of 4th semester students of English Department in usind adverb clause to show time relationship is moderate.
