Abstract
A journalist shouldn’t receive gift from anyone and anything along that gift related with theirjob. More over if that gift influence to independency of journalist. But, on recently years the envelope practice becomes a culture to the journalist. A tradition that become a certain phenomenon in Indonesia press development currently, thus there was bad image toward journalist profession in the society. Organization and press freedom, besides create fresh wind also generated bad wind at journalist profession. Easiness to publish media, also was followed deviation was conducted by certain people. The diverge attitude from profession ethics become culture of journalists. As one journalism profession organization, Independent Journalist Alliance known most support to create press climate that healthy and clean from bribe. Start from this, anti envelope term used by independent journalist alliance as an icon of politic, because anti envelope stated not only ethics or morality problem and also economic. But, it was a part of attempt to confirm regulation mechanism and attitude development, accountability at journalists. Campaign of anti envelope is a program was supported by independent journalist alliance since 1994 that intensively has been conducting till now, as their active role form in against envelope practice and also as attempt to create professional journalist and also obey to ethics. Furthermore to research the independent journalist alliance, researcher uses descriptive qualitative method by data collecting technique including observation, interview and documentation by analysis and interactive method of Miles and Huberman. To test data legality, researcher uses source triangulation technique. Based on result of data analysis explained, researcher found something among others; background of independent journalist alliance membership start from strength commitment in order not to receive envelope, view differences about conception of envelope at journalists, and also campaign of anti envelope was conducted the independent journalist alliance not maximum yet and only message statement or anti envelope material specially toward journalist besides the independent journalist alliance. Based on that, researcher concludes that the independent journalist alliance role in campaign of anti envelope was conducted limited in intern organization environment of independent journalist. The independent journalist alliance took issue of envelope to the media – place of journalist work – and there was no active role of independent journalist alliance to struggle prosperity of press worker that become embryo of envelope culture.
