Abstract

This research was carried out in Indoor Laboratory Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, and Biotechnology Laboratory, Muhammadiyah University of Malang on 12 February until 02 May 2009. The goal of this research is to know the effect of β-glucan from Baker’s Yeast in Tilapia diet to Respiratory Burst, Bacterial Agglutination by invitro method and total of plasm protein in blood Material used in this research was 45 Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) which put in 15 aquariums, each aquarium contains of 3 fish. Method used was experiment by Complete Random Design (CRD), with 5 treatments, triplicate. Treatments of this research consist of 5 treatments namely A (β-glucan 0 ppm per kg diet), B (β-glucan 2,5 ppm per kg diet), C (β-glucan 5,0 ppm per kg diet), D (β-glucan 7,5 ppm per kg diet) and E (β-glucan 10 ppm per kg diet). Result show that the different dose of β-glucan did not give significant impact to Respiratory Burst, but give a significant impact to Total of Plasm protein, while Bacterial Agglutination shows that β-glucan can improve bacterial agglutination activity by invitro method. The highest Total of Plasm Protein occurs treatment B (β-glucan 2,5 ppm per kg diet) with value of Total of Plasm Protein is 123.58 mg/ml. It is concluded that the different dose of β-glucan in Tilapia diet did not give a significant impact to Respiratory Burst, but give a significant impact to Total of Plasm protein, while Bacterial Agglutination shoe that β-glucan can improve bacterial agglutination activity by invitro method. The highest Total of Plasm Protein occurs treatment B (β-glucan 2,5 ppm per kg diet) with value of Total of Plasm Protein is 123.58 mg/ml. Further research is need in term of method such as deeping and injection.
