Abstract

Background: The high incidence of social media addiction results in a lack of attention skills in students Method: This research design used a cross sectional sample which used total sampling with 500 students. The instrument used for the level of social media addiction uses the Bergen Social Media Addiction (BSMAS) questionnaire and for the attention ability questionnaire uses the (ACS) Attention Control Scale using 5 and 4 Likert scales. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS V.25. Results: The research results show that there is a relationship between social media addiction and attention ability with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). With a correlation of 0.441, which means the strength of the relationship is moderate. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a relationship between social media addiction and the ability to pay attention during the learning process among Malang students.
