Abstract

Gastritis is inflammation that occurs in the gastric mucosa, which can be acute, chronic, diffuse or localized. Inflammation of the gastric mucosa due to gastritis can cause detachment of the mucosal layer, which results in an inflammatory process. Based on gastritis risk factors, stress is one of the factors that causes gastritis. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of gastritis in nursing students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research used a quantitative correlation method with a cross sectional study approach, carried out at the Nursing Science University of Muhammadiyah Malang which was carried out from October to November 2023. The sample was taken as a whole using the Total Sampling technique and obtained 107 respondents. Data were collected using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales -14 questionnaire and the gastritis incidence questionnaire. The statistical test used is the Spearman correlation test. The results of the research analysis showed that the p-value was 0.0001 <0.05 with a correlation value (r) of 0.571, which means there is a strong relationship between stress levels and the incidence of gastritis in Nursing students at Muhammadiyah University of Malang. The higher the stress level, the higher the risk of experiencing gastritis, and vice versa, the lower the stress level in students, the lower the risk of experiencing gastritis.
