Abstract

Zea mays, or sweet corn, is the name given to it in Indonesia. Because its production period is shorter and has a quite sweet taste compared to other corn, sweet corn is consumed in large quantities (Syukur and Rifianto, 2014). The development and growth of domestic sweet corn is still lacking compared to other sweet corn producing countries due to inappropriate agricultural practices. According to Muhsanati, Syarif, and Rahayu (2006), sweet corn growth in Indonesia averages 8.31 tons/ha, even though it has potential yields ranging from 14–18 tons/ha. Soil fertility and other environmental factors are thought to influence the growth and quality of sweet corn. Therefore, a good degree of soil fertility, including the availability of nutrients in the soil, is very necessary in efforts to increase sweet corn productivity and is assisted by the use of hormones from bamboo shoots to regulate the growth of corn plants which can develop plant growth. The aim of this research is to determine the response the growth of sweet corn (zea mays) on the administration of several types of bamboo shoot extract with various concentrations, so that we can determine which bamboo shoot extract material is most appropriate. This study used a randomized block design (RAK) with 11 treatments. Growth observation variables include plant length, stem diameter, number of leaves, cob weight without planting husks, cob length, and cob diameter without husks.
