Abstract

The concurrent appointment of Erick Thohir as the Chairman of Persatuan Sepak Bola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI) and the Minister of Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) has garnered mixed responses on the Twitter social media platform. This research aims to uncover the Digital Movement of Opinion (DMO) formed by conversation clusters and the public sentiment trends regarding this issue using the Social Network Analysis (SNA) method and a mixed methods approach. SNA was conducted with the assistance of the Netlytic tool for data mining and network visualization using a directed graph model. Subsequently, the Gephi Software 0.10.1 was employed for centrality analysis, and Azure Machine Learning was used for sentiment classification. The research results indicate that conversations regarding the issue create a network with low centralization due to unevenly distributed interactions. Public opinion is then formed with a positive sentiment of 55.6%, a negative sentiment of 32.7%, and a neutral sentiment of 11.6%. Interestingly, these sentiments are significantly influenced by the role of 'buzzer' with a positive campaign form to sharpen the narrative about Erick Thohir being skilled in holding dual positions and being suitable to run for Vice President in the 2024 Elections.
