Abstract

Compounds of plant secondary metabolites have known to have many benefits for humans, a secondary metabolite products are also widely used as a source of pharmaceuticals, fragrances, agrochemicals and food additives. One of these compounds is secondary metabolities of many enzyme bromelain found in peneapple plants. This study aims to identify the combination of various concentration of chinetin and NAA in MS medium on the growth of pineapple explant and bromelain detection. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Biotechnology University of Muhammadiyah Malang, in August 2007 until January 2009. This study was used a simple Complete Random Design. Observations carried out 3 times with interval of 10 days, with a length parameter explant observation, number of rots, explant color, explant fresh weight, explant dry weight, and bromelain detection. Based on observation, the treatment of 1 ppm kinetin +7.5 ppm NAA causes explant longer.Treatment of 0.5 ppm kinetin + NAA 15 ppm caused the number of roots more than the other. Treatment 1 ppm kinetin + NAA 15 ppm causes explants xolor more green and fresh wight and dry weight are heaviest. Treatment 1 ppm kinetin + 7.5 ppm NAA causes bromelain activity higher than the other combinations So for pineapple explant growth, preferably by treatment 1 ppm kinetin + NAA 15 ppm, for obtain bromelain activity, we recommend using 1 ppm kinetin + 7.5 ppm NAA
