Abstract

The Perception about career development is very important for employee and organization. The employees, who have failed to consider their career development, will ensue for the decrease of employee involvement in their job. It will cause a big loss for the company because of the increasing of training cost and employee development if we look from the company perspective. From employee side, there is a bad perception about career development could cause a frustration experience, unappreciated, invaluable, hopeless, and pessimistic then influence of employee wants to move out from the organization. For the matter of that, organization need to Manage the employee perception to maximize their motivation of career in their career development. There is no clear career development will also decrease the form of involvement of employee’s work about organization. The low of the involvement pointed out from an employee attitude which reluctant to work with a high level of attendance, the low of interest to work and etc. because of that, the first step to do by a company is to know the employee’s perception, if employee able to shape their perception well, so the employee will more optimal to develop their career. Besides, must to know about employee’s perception, it is about progress or their career journey until now. Anyway, perception is subjective. When an employee consider that their career become positive, it give an influence for their attitude and behavior which one of them is their involvement in company. The goal which wants to reach in this research is to know the relationship of perception of career development with job involvement. This research is quantitative research. Population in this research is whole of workingman and workingwoman who worked at PT.PLN (persero) APJ Malang. They are 85 people. And using Total sample technique in method of research. Whereas, the method of collecting data using scale method, there are 2 scales in used, they are perception of career development scale and job involvement scale which arranged by the researcher itself. For analysis data method by using a product moment technique from karl pearson and helped by computer program SPSS 13. From the done data analysis, it have a result that (r=0,713; p=0,000). In summarize, there is very significant positive relationship between perceptions of career development with job involvement, it pointed that more positive of employee’s perception face job involvement, so their job involvement become higher. And if more negative of employee’s perception faces job involvement, so their job involvement becomes lower. From this research, we get a coefficient of variable determinant (r2) about 0,508. It means the perception of career development contribute 50’8% about job involvement, and the scrap value 49,2% has influenced by other factors.
