Development needs of the sand, which at this moment to be an absolute requirement for physical development because sand is the basic ingredient for a building. Sand material used for stuffing ingredients in a mixture of species that serves to prevent shrinkage. This study examines the use of beach sand around the province of East Java as an alternative to Access of equivalent sand river. so that can know the results of the examination materials such as sand silt content, bulk density, weight janis, absorption, gradation of grain, and compressive strength of mortar. From the data collected was analyzed an average value of compressive strength of mortar of the highest and the lowest from each region were then compared with other regions. Based on the research Fine aggregate (sand) used including normal aggregate density is between 2.50 to 2.70. Weight content of the three sands showed the same behavior, namely: heavy rainfall contents <weight of solid content (the stabbing) <weight of solid content (penggoyangan). Examination grading of beach sand into the zone of gradation Tambakboyo no.4 (fine sand), sand beach in the zone of gradation Paiton entry no.4 (fine sand) and Pasir Brantas river Tulungagung included in the zone of gradation no.1 (coarse sand). The content of sludge from the three sands used in <5%, so it can directly be used in concrete mix without having washed it first. Mortar compressive strength of sandy beach using a PC cement at 14 days between 31% -49%, the age of 21 days between 39% -55%, and 28 days ranged between 32% - 35% of compressive strength of mortar sand river. Mortar compressive strength of sandy beach using PPC cement at 14 days ranged between 29% - 35%, age 21 days ranged between 37% - 47% and 28 days ranged between 37% - 50% of compressive strength of mortar sand river. Compressive strength by using PPC cement until the age of 28 days is still smaller than the cement mortar using a PC.
