PENERIMAAN PENONTON PADA ISU PELECEHAN SEKSUAL DALAM FILM DEAR DAVID (Studi Resepsi Pada Anggota Komunitas Girl Up Universitas Airlangga 2023/2024)

The high phenomenon of sexual harassment which continues to increase every year means that sexual harassment is not an issue that can be ignored. Sexual harassment is a significant and complex social issue and has a major impact on victims. Film is a mass communication medium that has great power in conveying messages and influencing public opinion, so films have an important role in forming social views as well as being a means of education. Film Dear David directed by Lucky Kuswandi, it tells the story of a male high school teenager who becomes a victim of sexual harassment by his friends at school because of the spread of a fantasy blog about him written by one of the outstanding female students at his high school. This film shows that harassment can happen to anyone regardless of gender, therefore it is important to be aware of the importance of understanding the impact of sexual harassment. The sampling technique used in the research was purposive sampling and used a number of subjects selected according to the criteria. The subjects in this research are members Girl Up Airlangga University in 2023/2024. The research method uses qualitative methods through interviews. The analytical method used is the Struat Hall model analysis, namely reception analysis which focuses on the meeting between the media and the audience. Results of research on audience reception in each scene in the film Dear David shows four participants are in the position category negotiation and two participants were in the category opposition, which means that some messages of sexual harassment in films can be understood but not completely agreed because each subject has their own perspective and assessment due to factors such as differences in social background, personal experience and environment which greatly influence the way each individual interprets the scenes. sexual harassment in films Dear David.
