Abstract

This research discusses the efforts made by the Indonesian government in handling transnational human trafficking cases using a human security approach. This research theme was chosen because cases of human trafficking are increasingly common and the movement is difficult to identify, so it is called illegal trafficking. This research uses a human security approach as stated in the Draft National Security Law, namely human security. This research uses a case study method with the aim of finding as much data as possible so that it can be researched so that it can provide a more complete and in-depth view. The government makes domestic and international efforts to handle human trafficking cases. Domestic efforts have been made by enacting Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking as the legal basis for human trafficking cases, as well as the establishment of One-Stop Integrated Service Offices (LTSA) located in 42 locations throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, international efforts made by Indonesia are Indonesia's cooperation with ASEAN regional organizations, Indonesia's cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Indonesia's cooperation with Malaysia through the JPCC (Joint Police Cooperation Committee), and Indonesia's cooperation with Taiwan through Direct Hiring. It can be concluded that the efforts made by Indonesia have had a positive impact on the number of human trafficking cases that occurred in 2018-2022. The decline in the number of new case investigations, although not yet significant, could be a good start for Indonesia's efforts.
