Abstract

This study aims to analyze and find out the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) Movement in abolishing the Three Agricultural Laws in India. These three Agricultural Laws discuss the loosening of price fixing, storage of agrarian commodity products and rules related to sales. The formation of the Three Agricultural Laws was considered controversial and had an impact on the formation of a new organization, namely Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), related to the social movement of farmers. SKM wants to repeal the Three Laws on Agriculture so that agricultural products have an MSP or minimum support price because the Three Laws on Agriculture allow the sale of products at market prices directly to private parties. This study uses the concept of social movements and resistance theory by James C. Scott. This study used a descriptive qualitative method, the technique in this research was through literature study, the data obtained and collected through books, journals, theses, and the internet had something to do with these problems. The researcher found that the resistance movement carried out by SKM in opposing the Three Agricultural Laws in India was in accordance with James C. Scott's resistance theory and SKM was also included in the classification of the concept of social movements, namely the new social movement. At the end of 2021 the law was abolished by the government, meaning that the SKM resistance movement succeeded in achieving its goal.
