Abstract

Issue: This research discusses the importance of reading interest in early childhood by proposing a design solution of a mobile application with the UX Journey method as an effective reading learning media. In today's digital era, where children are increasingly exposed to technology, an engaging and interactive approach through mobile applications can encourage children's interest in reading. Method: The UX Journey method helps create an enjoyable user experience and facilitates the exploration of words in a way that appeals to children. In mobile app development, it is necessary to understand the needs and features of successful software, including complexity, compatibility, changeability, and transparency. By utilizing varied learning methods, this application can provide a variety of diverse learning activities, such as word games, letter recognition, sentence and sound recognition and correct pronunciation of words. Therefore, this research aims to understand user needs, apply the UX Journey method, and provide appropriate design solutions to foster motivation and interest in reading in early childhood. Validation and verification were conducted using requirement metrics and acceptance criteria. Results: The development of this learning to read application provides added value and advantages in competition with similar applications. Through the use of varied learning methods, this application can provide a fun, effective and interesting learning experience for children. Conclusion and development: This research resulted in the design of a user-oriented children's reading learning application, potentially improving children's language skills & beginning reading process with a comprehensive approach. Suggestions for development, to continue to innovate in content, collaborate with child education experts, test with early childhood & ask for feedback from parents/teachers to improve the quality of the application.
