Abstract

This article aims to analyze the development of sectarian politics in Lebanon under Hezbollah's control after the Arab Spring. The method used in this research is literature study as data collection. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. In collecting the data obtained, the researcher conducted an analysis of journals and articles available online according to the theme raised, where these journals were obtained by using the search engines Harzing Publish or Perish, Research Gate, Cambridge Core, and Google Scholar. There is a core problem that continues to recur in the Lebanese political structure, namely the method of sharing power which tends to be unclear, its dependence on the external environment becomes a way for partiality to sectarian influences and its response is weak because it is under pressure. This article shows how this issue is closely related to the politics of sectarianism. While Lebanon's post-war transition serves as a backdrop for exploring this issue, emphasis is placed on the workings of the Lebanese political system under Hezbollah rule in the post-Arab Spring era. The aim is to assess how the Lebanese political performance held by Hezbollah is whether or not there is development over time. The Lebanese experience brings into sharper focus the limitations of sectarian power-sharing. However, it does provide useful insight for reshaping debates about the division of power in divided societies in the Middle East.
