Abstract

Writing is one of the language skills in learning a foreign language that students must master, although it is difficult, there are many aspects needed to achieve the goal of writing. Many students think about writing as the most difficult skill to master. The difficulty in writing is not only in generating and organizing ideas into writing, but in translating the ideas into an easy read context. Writing skills are very complex, one of which is the need to spell out punctuation, to pay attention to planning and organizing skills. Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing. The purpose of this research is to find out the difficulties of the students in writing descriptive text at MTs Muhammadiyah 06 Sugihan Solokuro Lamongan. This research uses a qualitative research method using questionnaire. The subject were 15 students at eight grades of MTs Muhammadiyah 06 Sugihan Solokuro Lamongan. Based on the research result, it was found that the difficulties of students to understand descriptive text is has several aspects, those are vocabulary aspect, grammar aspect, and organization aspect
