Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the percentage of cancel culture expressions appearing in the Instagram comment section of a post published by the Lambe Turah account regarding influencer Jule's public apology to Daehoon and his children on January 27, 2026. The study employed a quantitative approach using Ole R. Holsti's content analysis method within a positivist paradigm. The research sample consisted of 50 comments selected through purposive sampling from a total of 27,200 comments posted between January 27 and February 28, 2026. Reliability was tested using Holsti's reliability formula, supported by Scott's Pi coefficient. The findings identified four forms of cancel culture expressions: (1) moral condemnation, (2) negative labeling, (3) withdrawal of support, and (4) restriction of exposure. These findings indicate that Instagram comment sections function not merely as spaces for spontaneous responses but also as arenas for the construction of digital social sanctions, where users collectively shape moral narratives and restrict the social legitimacy of public figures through symbolic language.
