Abstract

The pressing process is an important stage that needs to be considered in the palm oil processing process as a reference for palm oil processing so that the quality of the oil is maintained. The pressure of the Screw press machine on the process can affect the quality of the output of the pulp and oil. This study aims to analyze the effect of pressure variations on the characteristics of pulp (broken nut, pulp and broken nut moisture content) and its output oil (oil moisture content and free fatty acid content). The research method used was a complete random design with 4 pressure variations (33 bar, 35 bar, 37 bar, and 39 bar) at a digester temperature of 95°C with 5 repetitions each. Data analysis was carried out using ANOVA and Duncan's. The results of the study showed that pressure 33 was the best treatment with the characteristics of the pulp quality produced by this pressure variation being 15% broken nuts, pulp water content 33.49%, oil losses 6.03% and the quality of undiluted crude oil (UNCO) was 34.94% UNCO water content, free fatty acids (FFA) 3.11%.
