Abstract
Indonesia's staple grain, rice, is challenged by both population growth and declining harvested land. While some rice farmers in Kendalsari Village continue to use conventional techniques, others have embraced contemporary technology such as planting machinery and harvesting instruments. This study compares rice farmers' incomes in Kendalsari Village, Sumobito District, Jombang Regency, who use traditional and contemporary technologies. 30 traditional farmers and 43 modern farmers make up the sample of 73 respondents in this comparative quantitative study using purposive sampling. and examined using quantitative techniques that are both descriptive and inferential, such as editing, tabulation, and t-testing. With a significant difference in the t-test = 2.15; p = 0.032<0.05, the results indicate that contemporary farmers make an average net income of Rp. 13.6 million/ha, which is Rp. 3.8 million more than traditional farmers, who only make Rp. 9.8 million/ha. This discrepancy arises from the fact that contemporary technology may improve cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting procedures while also increasing labor efficiency and lowering yield losses.
