Abstract
This study aims to describe self-esteem among victims of dating violence in early adulthood. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach involving two women who had experienced violence in romantic relationships. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The validity of the data was tested using source triangulation by comparing interview results from participants, significant others, and supporting documentation. The findings show that the two participants have different levels of self-esteem. Subject SA demonstrated low self-esteem characterized by low self-control, emotional dependency, difficulty in decision-making, and self-blame tendencies. Meanwhile, subject ZA demonstrated more adaptive self-esteem through the ability to maintain self-control, awareness of self-worth, and the ability to establish boundaries in relationships. However, both participants experienced instability in self-worth due to their experiences of violence.
