Abstract

Critical thinking is a high-order cognitive skill that is essential in mathematics learning; however, observations and interviews conducted at a senior high school revealed that the critical thinking ability of eleventh-grade students remains weak, particularly on the indicators of advanced clarification, strategy and tactics, and inference according to Ennis's taxonomy, while the indicators of elementary clarification and basic support have only developed at a basic level. This study aims to develop problem-based interactive learning media using Genially for the topic of arithmetic sequences and series that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The media was developed through the ADDIE model by integrating the five syntax of Problem-Based Learning into five navigational rooms in Genially, so that each room trains one or more Ennis indicators progressively. The study involved 72 eleventh-grade students of a senior high school. Validity was assessed by four validators using a questionnaire based on Ennis's indicators, practicality was measured through a student response questionnaire, and effectiveness was analyzed using the n-Gain score derived from pretest and posttest results. The findings indicate that the media was declared valid with a score of 3.57, highly practical with a score of 3.75, and sufficiently effective with an n-Gain value of 0.67. The most significant improvements were observed on the indicators of strategy and tactics and advanced clarification. The enhancement of critical thinking skills is the result of the synergy between content structured according to Ennis's indicators and the interactive features of Genially as pedagogical scaffolding, making this media a viable innovative alternative for mathematics learning.
