Abstract
The transition from the educational world to the workforce requires vocational high school (SMK) students to possess adequate work readiness. One of the psychological factors that plays a role in shaping work readiness is self-efficacy. This study aims to determine the influence of self-efficacy on the work readiness of SMK students in Malang City who have participated in Field Work Practice (PKL). This study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 385 students selected using accidental sampling. The instruments used were the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) to measure self-efficacy and the Work Readiness Scale (WRS) to measure work readiness. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that self-efficacy has a significant influence on the work readiness of vocational high school students after completing PKL, with a significance level of < .001. In addition, the analysis results show a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.171, indicating that self-efficacy accounts for 17.1% of students’ work readiness, while the remaining 82.9% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Thus, enhancing self-efficacy is a crucial aspect that must be addressed in efforts to improve the work readiness of vocational high school students before they enter the workforce.
