Abstract
Scratch-based coding extracurricular activities are learning programs designed to introduce basic programming concepts to elementary school students through interactive and easy-to-understand media. This study aims to describe the implementation of Scratch-based coding extracurricular activities at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Batu, including planning, implementation, evaluation, and challenges in its implementation.
This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Batu, focusing on Scratch-based coding extracurricular activities. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was tested using source triangulation and technique triangulation.
The research results indicate that: (1) The planning of the coding extracurricular program was carried out in stages through the socialization of the CodingMU Program to the school, internal coordination, the establishment of schedules and activity coordinators, the preparation of facilities and infrastructure, socialization to parents, participant registration and data collection, completion of program administration, and the preparation learning accounts.(2) The implementation of the activities was conducted systematically, starting from the introduction to the Scratch application, practice using basic features, to the gradual creation of simple projects by students. (3) Evaluation was conducted through observation of the learning process and students’ project outcomes, which were assessed based on the development of their skills and understanding. (4) The challenges in implementation included differences in students’ abilities to understand the material, limited learning time, and technical issues related to devices.
