Abstract

Conflicts between work and family demands can trigger work stress if not managed properly. This study aims to determine the effect of work-family conflict on work stress in Generation Z female workers. The research method used was a non-experimental quantitative method with a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling type. The research subjects were 374 Generation Z female workers who were married, actively working, and had dual roles. The instruments used in this study were the Work-Family Conflict Scale (WFC-S) and the New Job Stress Scale (TNJSS). The results of the regression analysis showed that the work-family conflict variable had a positive and significant effect on work stress, with a regression coefficient (B) of 0.531, a t-value of 26.265, and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). In addition, the regression constant value of 19.241 describes the baseline level of work stress when the work-family conflict variable is not taken into account, while the standard beta value of 0.806 indicates that its effect is relatively strong. This indicates that the higher the level of work-family conflict, the higher the level of work stress experienced. The implication of this research is the importance of maintaining a balance between work and family roles, both by individuals and organizations, to reduce work stress levels.
