Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of population growth, poverty rate, unemployment rate, and Gini Ratio on economic growth in East Java during the period 2011-2024. The research uses panel data from 38 districts/cities with Fixed Effect Model panel data regression analysis. The results show that: (1) Population growth has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, indicating that population increase still contributes through productive labor force expansion and household consumption; (2) Poverty rate has a positive and
significant effect, which can be explained through the intensity of poverty alleviation programs that stimulate economic activities; (3) Unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect, related to frictional unemployment in rapidly developing areas; (4) Gini Ratio has a positive and significant effect, indicating that economic growth is still dominated by high-income groups; and (5) Simultaneously, all independent variables have a significant effect with an Adjusted R-squared of 41.52%. The study recommends more inclusive economic
development policies, optimization of productive poverty alleviation programs, improvement of employment service quality, infrastructure investment in disadvantaged areas, and development of growth poles to reduce spatial inequality.
