Abstract
The development of technology has led to a shift or change in communication behavior today. Along with the rapid advancement of technology, interpersonal communication is no longer limited to face-to-face interactions but can also be conducted through communication media such as WhatsApp. The use of WhatsApp enables its users to engage in self-disclosure through interpersonal communication. Opening up to others is the foundation of relationships that allows for intimate communication, both with ourselves and with others. Self-disclosure is the act of voluntarily sharing and providing information about oneself, including feelings, thoughts, and experiences, to others. When individuals make an effort to know and trust one another, it creates a sense of comfort in opening up. This study examines the level of self-disclosure among 2019 Communication Science students through interpersonal communication with friends on WhatsApp. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The students demonstrated varying levels of self-disclosure. Some students were able to share personal information about themselves, while others preferred not to share personal details. The disclosure practiced by the students consisted of descriptive and evaluative disclosure. Students shared facts previously unknown to others as well as their personal feelings. WhatsApp serves as a medium capable of revealing the "blind area" of changing communication patterns, which are subsequently noticed by friends but often go unnoticed by oneself.
