Abstract
Introduction : Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are common health problems affecting the musculoskeletal system and may cause pain in muscles, joints, and bones. Adolescents, especially high school students, perform various levels of physical activity ranging from light to vigorous activities. Imbalanced physical activity levels, whether too low or excessive, may increase the risk of musculoskeletal complaints. Therefore, it is important to examine the relationship between physical activity levels and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders among students.
Research Objectives : To determine the relationship between physical activity levels and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders among students of Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School Malang.
Research Method : This study used a quantitative correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of students from Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School Malang who met the inclusion criteria using a total sampling technique. Physical activity levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), while the risk of musculoskeletal disorders was assessed using the Nordic Body Map (NBM). Data analysis was conducted using correlation tests after performing a normality test.
Result : The results showed that most respondents had moderate levels of physical activity and low to moderate risk of musculoskeletal disorders. Correlation analysis indicated a significant relationship between physical activity levels and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders among
students of Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School Malang (p < 0.05).
Conclusion : There is a relationship between physical activity levels and the risk of musculoskeletal disorders among students of Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School Malang. Imbalanced physical activity levels may increase the risk of musculoskeletal complaints in adolescents.
