Abstract

The development of digital media has made music videos no longer merely a complement to songs, but also a medium that conveys social meanings, including those related to gender and romantic relationships. One interesting music video to study is Hindia’s Cincin, which portrays the dynamics of romantic relationships through emotional scenes. This study aims to analyze the representation of male actors in romantic relationships in Hindia’s Cincin music video through denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings. This research uses a qualitative approach with interpretive research and media text analysis as its basis. The primary data source is Hindia’s Cincin music video, which is analyzed through seven selected scenes. The results show that male actors in this music video are represented as emotional, caring, reflective, and responsible figures in romantic relationships. These representations are constructed through facial expressions, body gestures, interactions between characters, visual symbols, and song lyrics that depict emotional closeness, conflict, vulnerability, and commitment within relationships. This study also finds the presence of textual rupture in the representation of male actors, as the male character is not only portrayed as loving and caring, but also as an individual experiencing emotional pressure, anger, and emotional instability in romantic relationships. Therefore, the Cincin music video represents men as complex and emotional figures who are not entirely bound to traditional masculinity.
