Abstract

The high participation of women in the Indonesian workforce is directly proportional to the increasing number of working mothers who face the challenge of work-family balance, a condition that has been proven to have an impact on satisfaction. This study aims to examine the effect of work–family balance on job satisfaction and to test the moderating role of social support among working mothers with young children. A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling, involving 165 working mothers who met specific criteria. The instruments used were the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS), the Work–Family Balance Scale (WFBS), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that work–family balance has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction (p < 0,01; p < 0,001; R² = 0,406). Furthermore, social support was found to significantly moderate the relationship between work–family balance and job satisfaction (p < 0,05; p = 0,0309; β = 0.770), increasing the explained variance of the model to 69.4%. These findings suggest that social support strengthens the positive effect of work–family balance on job satisfaction among working mothers.
