Abstract

Video clips present symbols and signs that depict the reality of life, including changes in relationships among Generation Z. In the current development of digital media, video clips not only function as entertainment media, but also as a means of conveying social and emotional messages to the audience. The song "Cincin" by Hindia is one of the works that depicts the complexity of emotional relationships of Generation Z through meaningful visuals and lyrics. This study aims to analyze the latent meaning of romantic relationships of Generation Z as shown in the video clip "Cincin" by Hindia. This study uses a qualitative approach with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method that emphasizes three stages of meaning, namely denotation, connotation, and myth. Research data were obtained through observations of visual scenes, character expressions, and symbols that appear in the video clip of the song "Cincin". The results show that the video clip reveals the meaning of romantic relationships in Generation Z which is characterized by emotional experiences such as loneliness, doubts in relationships, self-introspection, and changes in communication that do not always appear verbally. These meanings emerge through the use of visual symbols, lighting, and interactions between characters that depict the complex life of modern relationships and the emotional changes experienced by Generation Z.
