Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of social support on self-disclosure among adolescents who use second accounts on social media. The phenomenon of second account usage has increasingly developed among adolescents as an alternative space to express themselves more personally and openly. Social support received in digital environments is assumed to play a role in encouraging such self-disclosure. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 280 adolescents aged 12–18 years who actively use second accounts on social media platforms. Data were collected using The Online Social Support Scale (OSSS) and the Revised Self-disclosure Scale (RSD) to assess self-disclosure. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The results indicate that social support simultaneously influences self-disclosure. However, partially, only the relationship management dimension significantly affects self-disclosure, while informational support and emotional support do not show significant effects. These findings suggest that the quality and maintenance of social relationships within digital networks play a more crucial role in encouraging adolescents’ self-disclosure than other forms of support.
