Abstract
This study investigated the impact of green human resource management practices, precisely green recruitment and green training on employee performance with employee satisfaction serving as a mediating variable in the UMM Hotels. This study employed a quantitative explanatory approach by using the total sampling of 120 employees across the three UMM Hotels. The data collection was conducted through structured questionnaires and the data were analyzed by using SPSS for the preliminary analysis and the Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling in AMOS for the confirmatory factor analysis and structural model testing. The findings reveal that green recruitment positively influences employee satisfaction, while green training does not significantly affect satisfaction. The Employee satisfaction significantly influences employee performance. However, the green recruitment and green training do not directly affect employee performance. The mediation analysis shows that employee satisfaction mediates the relationship between the green recruitment and employee performance but it does not mediate the relationship between green training and employee performance. These results suggest that the recruitment practices emphasizing on the environmental values contribute to employee satisfaction, which in turn improves performance. This study adds to the green HRM existing literature by clarifying the attitudinal pathway connecting recruitment to performance in a hospitality setting.
