Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has encouraged increased use of this technology by students in academic activities. This study aims to describe the level of Academic Self-Efficacy and the use of Artificial Intelligence in academic contexts among university students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The participants were undergraduate (S1) students in Malang City, selected using purposive sampling with the criteria of being 17–25 years old having more than 5 hours of Artificial Intelligence use per day. After the screening process, a total of 84 students were included in the study (45 males and 39 females). Data were collected using the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (TASES) and the Dependence on Artificial Intelligence (DAI) scale, and were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results indicate that students’ Academic Self-Efficacy is generally at a moderate level. Similarly, the use of Artificial Intelligence in academic activities is also at a moderate level. Based on gender, female students tend to have higher Academic Self-Efficacy, while male students tend to show higher use of Artificial Intelligence, although the differences are not substantial. These findings provide an overview of Academic Self-Efficacy and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence in students’ academic activities.
