Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by hyperglycemia that can lead to poor
sleep quality. Physical activity interventions such as walking exercise and aerobic exercise
are known to help improve sleep quality. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of
walking exercise and aerobic exercise in improving sleep quality among patients with
diabetes in Malang City.
This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pre-test and post-test
approach. The sample was divided into two intervention groups. The interventions were
conducted for 8 weeks, three times per week, with a duration of 30 minutes per session. Sleep
quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was
performed to determine differences before and after the intervention and between groups.
The results are expected to show an improvement in sleep quality in both groups, with
differences in effectiveness between the two interventions. This study is expected to provide a
simple and effective physiotherapy intervention to improve sleep quality in patients with
diabetes.
