Abstract
This study examines the representation of Indonesian cultural identity in YouTube content created by a foreign creator, Ivy Phan. The background of the study is that social media, particularly YouTube, has developed into a cross-cultural communication platform that has the ability to shape public perception of a country. The purpose of the study is to determine how Ivy Phan portrays Indonesian society, by studying the representation of Indonesian cultural identity in her YouTube content. This study uses a descriptive-analytical approach to analyze the qualitative content of 8 videos uploaded to Ivy Phan's YouTube channel from December 2020 to April 2021. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and video narrative transcripts, which were then analyzed based on the categories of character and personality, socio-cultural values, communication patterns, and culture shock. The results show that people in Indonesia are friendly, polite, humble, and tolerant, and they maintain collectivist social and cultural bonds. Furthermore, it was found that the culture shock experienced by Ivy Phan actually encouraged her to think more positively about Indonesian culture.
